How Do I Backup My Client Files? (Any Computer)

NOTE THE FOLLOWING IS NOT FOR THE LATEST SQLite SOFTWARE VERSIONS 09 and 2010 software needs the QCBack-up Tool

Here are two different Client Back-Up Options.

It is highly advisable to save your backed up file to an external media: flashdrive, CD, DVD, iPod, or external hard drive. You should save your client files regularly. Set yourself a schedule of doing it every week, or whenever you add new clients.  It is always a good idea to keep a file backed up separately from the automated QC Back up as well (if you have that software feature) as an extra safety net for your client files.

NOTE:  Make Sure you back up your client files before uninstalling an older version of Clasp32.  You cannot restore the entire datafolder from an older Clasp32 version to the New 2009 versions.  See special instructions below ‘BACK UP OF CLIENT AND EXAMINE FILES ONLY’.

BASIC BACK-UP OF ENTIRE DATA FOLDER CONTENTS OLD VERSIONS 05 06 07

(Used for Version’s 2007 and earlier, or used as a safety net from which specific client and ‘examin’ files can be later extracted)

NOTE: Cannot be used (as such) to restore clients to New 2009 Clasp32 Verison’s)

DATA folder must be renamed

BACK UP OF CLIENT AND EXAMIN FILES ONLY

(Used to extract just the client and ‘examin’ files from the DATA folder in order to restore or transfer them to the new 2009 software versions)

NOTE: Alternatively, you can refer to the FAQ ‘How to use the QCBack-Up Tool’.  This handy tool will perform the above steps automatically for you.

However, it is always advisable to have this type of back up as well for an extra safety net.
