Latest SCIO 12 12 12 Update
Susan Updated; July 26, 2016

The Latest SCIO/Eductor Software Update is the 5 5 2016 and the download is available on http://www.qxsubspace.com

PLEASE READ ALL THE STEPS THROUGH ONCE, BEFORE BEGINNING

The following  gives you a basic overview with some notes and warnings about issues encountered by practitioners dealing with these updates.  Also included are links to posts where you can find fuller step by step details.  Mind you some of these may be older posts that are based on some of the original instructions BHO/QX put out for the ‘mandatory’  12 12 12 release.  The fee to activate this version with BHO/QX through PayPal is 350 Euro. The price may increase to 400 Euro in August, 2016. This post assumes that you are using software dated 2012 to 2016.

Before Installation :

  • If you have backdated the computer clock/date please set to current date before attempting the update
  • Make sure your Windows updates are up to date, even on a new computer.
  • You need to be registered and have an account on http://www.qxsubspace.com
  • You need to have your USERNAME and PASSWORD in order to access the software updates area to Download and Activate.
  • Note: As of August 2014 BHO/QX automatically changed all Usernames to the email address that you originally used to set up your account. The Password would have remained the same. If you have difficulty activating (messages like there is no SCIO serial # assigned to your account) it could be that you need to check your Username and Password.
  • Turn off the User Accounts Control (UAC).

Before Installation : (Ignore if new computer )

If you have “added Matrix Items” you need to back them up first.  (Ignore if a new computer, unless you can still access the previous software)

Gage Tarrant has shared a video showing an alternative way to back up and restore the Added Gage/Nelson Matrix Items on 2010-2011 software   https://thequantumalliance.adobeconnect.com/_a952644675/p6smjf7rf4m/?launcher=false&fcsContent=true&pbMode=normal

Client Files:  (ignore if new computer )

Use the QX Backup Tool icon on your desktop to do a Client Back Up. This is for 2012 software to current. If you have older software and are just now updating you will have the QC Backup Tool but this is now obsolete. DO NOT attempt to ‘restore’ from this tool after as you could lose the client files and corrupt the database in the new version. The only reason this tool is being mentioned is that it will do the last back up of the files on the pre-encrypted software creating a potential safety back up.The older software database was not encrypted and the new one is, so the files need to be converted first.

There are posts on our FAQ’s that have a lot of tips, pointers and troubleshooting support. Especially if you are still on the 5 5 11 or older software. The COMPLETE-7 7 14-UPDATING-INSTRUCTIONS-Read-This-Before-Getting-Started  However, this if for the Indigo software but there are many valuable  computer prep tips like backing up client files, trouble shooting etc.

Other Important FAQs

Use the Search Engine to find a post. You can type in keywords like;

  • ” Computer Specifications …” (if getting or installing on a newer computer/ Screen Resolution is very important)
  • ” UAC”  (User Accounts Control setting needs to be set to “Never Notify”)
  • ” Com Port …” (device communication)  Note: This step is rarely needed unless it’s a new computer install/complete reinstall or new USB cable or changed the USB port in use.

And Click ‘Search’

BASIC STEP BY STEP

  • At the top of the www.qxsubspace.com website page you will see Downloads
  • Go to Downloads and find the QXSUBSPACE APP This is needed to install the full software. You cannot use just the 5 5 16 Service Pack.
  • Click on the QXSUBSPACE APP for the option to start the download . You will then need to “Run” it so that the tool gets installed to your desktop.
  • You will then see as an Icon called the QXSUBSPACE APP on your desktop. It will require your Username and Password to fully open
  • Once open you will see various options. Chose the correct option for your device.
  • Note that the SCIO software is the Eductor 64 option (formerly Clasp32) and be prepared because it can take on average 1-2 hours sometimes much more because this is the “full” program with all the pictures and videos. When it completes, you will see an option to Install and it will assess the integrity of the download and then the Install button appears allowing you to click it.  You may have to click ‘Back to Main’ to see the Verify button.  It will assess the integrity of the download and then the Install button appears allowing you to click it. There may be a long pause before you see the install window. If you don’t get the Install happening (this is hard to miss because it covers the entire screen with the Next Next Next /finish) but you may need my help.       I usually have to go to the C Drive find it and execute it from there. After that is done you should still run the 5 5 16 Service Pack in case it is a newer revision than the Software Manager’s version This is fairly quick to run, it usually just takes a few minutes.
  • Back to the software Installation Process; If you don’t get the final Install part, email me for further Instructions/help, don’t jump ahead to the next part of running the 5 5 16 Service Pack, because you need those other base files on there first.
  • Sometimes, I have had to help people with this final “Install Part”, because it sticks and doesn’t automatically start after clicking it. If you are a little computer savvy then perhaps you can follow these instructions;
  • Go into the Computer C Drive / then find the QXSUBSPACE APP Folder.  Open that one /Open the QXSUBSPACE APP Folder / Open the version folder and there are many numbered install parts/  Double Click on the very bottom one,  the Install.exe That should launch it, and continue with the final steps.
  • As mentioned after that one is done you should also run the “EDUCTOR/SCIO Service Pack” 5-5-2014 (However, this is only needed if you notice it has a newer revision date from the full one you just did, as it might have fixes).
  • New Install: You will also need to run the DivX Bundle …this should be on your desktop, as an Icon. It is needed for making the BV Graphics run.
  • New Install: You will need to assign and set the Com Port for the device recognition (Instructions in the FAQ’s mentioned above)

Activation:

The Activation is done from inside the Software on the Password Screen.

Inside the Password Screen (don’t enter 0210) Look for the word Activation / Click it /Click Internet / Enter your Username and Password / You will be directed to Pay Pal to pay the fee.

Note: As of August 2014 BHO/QX automatically changed all Usernames to the email address that was originally set up your account. The Password would have remained the same. If you have difficulty activating (messages like there is no SCIO serial # assigned to your account) it could be that you need to check your Username and Password.

If you have a QXCI device this device is now obsolete. It has to run on an XP 32 bit computer (also obsolete). Please consult the  www.qxsubspace.com website.

Originally the 5 5 11 was downloaded and then the QT Patch had to be run for the QXCI to function well. They do advertise a 5 5 14 version of the software, but I can not vouch for its usefulness for anything other than an XP 32 bit computer. If you need a new computer there may be very little you will be able to do. You will have to check with BHO/QX for any specific instructions relating to using the old QXCI device or go to their support page http://www.qxsubspace.com/support and click “Email Us” and inquire.
