First check to see if the device is being recognized. When the software launches it pauses at 25% to look for the device. If found it will display a small window with an image of an Indigo and the serial number of your Indigo device. If not, investigate why the Device is not communicating (being detected) by the software.
- Is this a totally new install? Have the correct USB drivers been installed?
- Do you have it connected to the same USB port as always?
- Did the INDIGO get properly turned on
- Did you wait for the INDIGO to chime (play the musical notes) before clicking the Indigo Icon on the desktop to open the software?
The following steps will help you set the COM port for your INDIGO device and ensure that the proper communication takes place between the device, the computer and the software.
Configuring the Com Port;
- Turn on the Indigo device
- Right click on the “Computer” or “My Computer” (if XP) icon on your desktop (Win 8 Computers see Tip below)
- Click on “Manage” or “Properties” (if XP)
- Click on “Device Manager” or “Hardware Tab then Device Manager” (if XP)
- Click on the plus sign or the arrow next to “Ports (COM & LPT)”
- Right click on “USB Serial Port (COM’X’)” (For example it could be COM3 or another number)
- Click on “Properties”
- Click on the “Port Settings” tab
- Click Drop Down Menu for “Bits per second”
- Look for “Bits per second”, Use the pull down menu to change it to 115, 200
- Click on the “Advanced…” button
- Look for “COM Port Number:”, Use the pull down menu to change it from COM’x’ to COM1
- Click on the “OK” button
- Click on the “OK” button
- Close the “Device Manager” window
- Go through the steps again to be sure it now registers as USB Serial Port Com1
After you have configured the Com Port to Com 1, switch the device off and then turn it back on. Wait for it to chime. Now watch to see that the small window that displays an image of the Indigo and displays your serial number shows up at 25% when the software program is launching. If it just displays a strange set of numbers or the word serial please do the following; Close the program and turn off the INDIGO device, unplug it from the computer’s USB port and then plug it back in, turn the device back on and try again.
If the device is still not getting recognizing at 25% use the Interface Type to enter the serial number and select the device type;
